What’s next for Mac?

Apple has given the world the iPod, iPhone and a plethora of other gadgets and services. When the first iPod made it’s debut, many people figured that the idea of having a little box store and play music would not catch on. The concept, however, has become a trend and an individual is viewed as being a square if they don’t have the latest iPod. Beyond the success of the iPod, the iPhone has experienced a record amount of attention as well. The first touch screen phone to ever be classified as such, the iPhone has made a complete comeback after its rocky start in 2007. Individuals went from loathing the phone because of its many glitches, to viewing it as a necessity for their business or everyday telecommuting needs. With all of the success that Apple has encountered, what else could they come up with to add to the good fortune? A new Macintosh operating system, perhaps.

According to Mac World magazine, Apple is planning to launch its new system in the Summer of 2011. The OS X 10.7, also referred to as the Lion, will operate from the level of simplicity; a level that most Mac operating systems know nothing about. In contrast to the old systems that made downloading and running new applications a nightmare, the Lion will provide easy access to the Apps with a one step click, purchase and install feature. With such feature, the user will be able to purchase and install desired Apps with one click; no more purchasing in one window and installing in another. Users will also be given feedback during installation, so there will be no confusion as to whether or not the computer is fulfilling the specified command. In addition, users will be given a clear indication of where the App went after installation. The days of downloading problems and searching every file for one App are over.
